Seeking Psychiatrists and Skilled Mental Health Nurse Practitioners

VA New England Healthcare System

You are invited to join a team-oriented medical staff providing care for those who have served. VA New England provides urgent care, primary care, ambulatory surgery, specialty clinics, mental health services, hospital-based home care, community acute care, and long term care. In addition to its medical centers, it operates community-based outpatient clinics and is internationally recognized for its research in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), bi-polar, suicidal issues and other behavioral disorders and, its Suboxone program. With its academic affiliations, you’ll have opportunities to work with medical students, residents, and other trainees and in some cases, qualify for an academic appointment at institutions such as Harvard, Yale, Brown University, University of Massachusetts and others.

We are seeking experienced psychiatrists who will have responsibilities that include psychiatric evaluation and treatment, consultation with multidisciplinary teams, initiation of mental health and substance abuse treatment as well as development of treatment plans in a variety of settings. Providers have a key role in multi-disciplinary teams with seasoned and dedicated MH clinicians within specialty Mental Health Clinics.  Providers have one (1) hour for new patients and 30 minutes for follow-ups and hours are generally 8 AM-4:30 PM with dedicated admin time.  Once new providers are settled in, the potential for flexible hours is possible.

Psychiatrists are entitled to 11 federal holidays and also receive nearly 6 weeks of paid annual leave. The physician is eligible to participate in a pension program as well as a matching Thrift Savings Plan which is similar to a 401K. Candidates with prior military experience may be able to combine their accrued military retirement credit with VA pension benefits. First year salary may be up to $250K for a full-time Psychiatrist with the right level of experience and motivation. You should hold an unrestricted US license (does not need to be a New Hampshire license).

In New England, whatever you are looking for is within reach, including beautiful mountains such as the Berkshires, White Mountains and Green Mountains; lakes; the fine seacoast life; and metropolitan areas where cultural and sporting events and dining experiences abound.  It’s all right here!
