Scientist or Clinician-Scientist

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Research Institute seeks an outstanding scientist or clinician scientist in the field of clinical trials in (paediatric) rare diseases. This permanent position is at the Scientist level with an academic cross-appointment at the appropriate level in an academic department at the University of Toronto. SickKids is a world-renowned Children’s Hospital with seven fully integrated research programs. The appointee will be located in our new 21-storey state-of-the-art SickKids Research & Learning Tower in the Discovery District of downtown Toronto, offering a unique environment for medical science discoveries in close proximity to seven other academic hospitals/research centres and Canada’s largest university.

This is an exciting position ready to be filled by a researcher in their early or mid-career, who will build on the health innovation momentum in SickKids by developing and maintaining an a transformative, innovative, and independently funded research program of international calibre in rare disease clinical trials. Applicants are expected to have clinical trial experience, including designing and implementing innovative trials, e.g. Value of Information designs, Bayesian decision analysis, adaptive design, registry-based, etc.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD*, or MD*/PhD, significant postdoctoral experience and a record of scientific and leadership accomplishments in rare disease clinical trials. The successful candidate will initiate and maintain an original, competitive, and independently funded research program of international caliber. Potential for collegial interaction will be an important element in attaining the position. The successful candidate will benefit from the extensive research and core facilities of SickKids, the University of Toronto and its affiliated institutions for clinical epidemiology, bioinformatics, and rare diseases. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience within the range of 120K – 200K CAD. A competitive benefits package is being offered along with support for relocation expenses.
