Medical Director, Hematology and OncologyPhoenix, AZThe Dignity Health Cancer Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center (DHCI) is seeking a board certified medical oncologist or hematologist for the newly established Hematology and Medical Oncology Medical Director role. Our 5+year old comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program continues to grow in stature and reputation as our clinical and diagnostic services expand, clinical volumes grow, and satellite locations are developed. Our academic involvement with the Creighton University Alliance residency programs and other local universities also continues to grow. Last year we became members of NCORP with access to NCI/Cooperative Group trials. We also have pharma and investigator initiated clinical trials underway.The Medical Director for Hematology and Oncology will be the physician leader for the employed medical oncologists and hematologists. They will be a member of the Cancer Center Clinical Operations Committee, foster the growth of clinical trials, participate in recruitment/hiring of physicians, mentor cancer center physicians, assist with new physician orientation, and facilitate the achievement of the Cancer Institute, SJHMC, and CommonSpirit Health goals and quality initiatives. This individual will ensure medical oncologist/hematologist participation in quality and performance improvement projects, and other local and national efforts as requested. The Medical Director will participate in business development activities, including assessing growth opportunities through our Destination Medicine Program. The Medical Director will increase the Oncology programs' visibility and develop effective relationships with Dignity Health AZ providers, community providers, academic institutions, and industry partners. The Medical Director will have a clinical practice and rotate on the inpatient oncology consult service. This individual will report to the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Oncology Physician Services (ACMO) for all employment, professional and quality-related responsibilities, and the VP, Oncology Services, for all clinical operations. The Medical Director will work closely with the ACMO, VP Oncology Services, and Medical Directors for Radiation, Infusion and Supportive Care & Survivorship, Director of Nursing, Director of Physicians' Practice and Business, SJHMC leaders, and the Clinical Trial Office Leadership.Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and generous benefits package that includes premium-free insurance options, a matched 403b, employer-funded pension plan, a relocation allowance for eligible physicians, CME benefit, and malpractice insurance. Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be/have: Fellowship-trained and American Board Certified in Medical Oncology and HematologyA minimum of 3-5 years of successful leadership/management experienceClinical trial experienceTeaching experienceA passion for providing excellent clinical careMust have or be eligible for Arizona State medical licensureAbility to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitalsAcceptable references from a supervisor, peer, and subordinate; from a registered nurse; and potentially from a research mentorWilling to abide by and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of CommonSpirit Health
