JOB PURPOSE:
Assist the Director ofHealth Services in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with currentfederal, state, and local regulations governing our center, and as may be directedby the Administrator, the Medical Director, and/or the Director of HealthServices to provide appropriate care.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Functions in leadership capacity in theabsence of the DHS.
2. Develops, maintain and control staffschedules and assignments while adhering to budgeted PPD and staffing. Notifies the DHS of insufficient staffing tomeet patient's needs. Takes immediateaction to resolve staffing shortage as directed.
3. Coordinate daily with the DHS to providecommunication and stability to each wing/unit. Attend and contribute to careplan meetings when the care plan meeting involves a resident from the
Unit Manager's Wing.
4. Must be able to promote and foster positiverelationships with co-workers; maintain effective relationships with managementstaff, other partners, and the general public. Must have timely,
regular attendance.
5. Implement partner relations practices necessaryto establish a positive employer-partner relationship and promote a high levelof partner morale and fosters an environment that creates and enhances teamwork.
6. Follow all company policies and procedures,state and federal laws and regulations, and is required to report violations tothe appropriate supervisor.
7. Carry out all duties with a "Commitment toCaring" and in accordance with the company's mission, vision, andphilosophy.

8. Maintain confidentiality of companyinformation. Demonstrate honesty and integrityat all times.
9. Able to respond to change productively andhandle additional projects as assigned.
10. Able to carry outthe duties and responsibilities of the position (with or without reasonableaccommodation) without posing specific or current risk of substantial harm tothe health and safety of self andothers.

11. Conduct quality assessmentand assurance activities, including regulatory compliance rounds, in all departmentsto monitor performance and to continuously improve quality. Develop and maintain aprogram to gather and analyze data for trends and to institute actions to resolve problemspromptly.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the action to resolve identified trendsand problems.

12. Report and makerecommendations to Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee.
13. Assist Director ofHealth Services with preparation for long term care survey. Actively participate in long term care surveyprocess by instructing staff in matters of conduct and disclosure, maintaininga presence at all times surveyors are on-site and directing the timelycollection of information required by the survey team. Communicate concernsidentified during the survey process with the DHS and Administrator.
14. Maintain currentskills and knowledge through continuing education. Apply information to jobresponsibilities. Attend education to maintain current skills and increaseclinical skills.
15. Audit clinical records for accuracy and completeness of comprehensive resident assessments,effective documentation reflecting resident responses to interventions andconsistent implementation of plan of care by all staff and professionals, onall shifts.
16. Supervise floorstaff including licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants.
17. Communicates withPhysicians and physician extenders related to patient needs.
18. Attend meetings asdirected to include but not limited to care plans, case mix and at-riskmeetings.
19. Handlesfamily/resident complaints and concerns per company policy
20. Conducts interviewswith new nursing partners. Also, assist with nursing partner evaluations anddisciplinary actions.

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Participate in center/agency surveys(Licensure / JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.

• Attend and participate in continuingeducational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as tomaintain current license/certification, as required.

• Attend and participate in mandatoryin-services.

• Honor patients/residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination,individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wagecomplaints.

• Comply with corporate compliance program.

• Report job-related functions/tasks thatinvolve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids andothers as necessary.

• Follow established safety regulations,to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infectioncontrol, etc.

• Follow established safety procedures whenperforming tasks and/or working with equipment.

• Perform other related duties as necessaryand as directed by supervisor.

• Customer service oriented.

• Able to relate to the ill, disabled,elderly, emotionally upset and at times with hostile people. Must be able to copewith the mental and emotional stress of this position. Must possess the abilityto make decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.Must possess the ability toplan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the safety programs,

goals objectives,policies and procedures.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATIONREQUIRED:
Nursing Degree from anaccredited college or university, or is a graduate of an accredited/approved
RN program.

MINIMUMEXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three years professionalnursing experience in long term care setting preferred. Previous experience in quality assurance,education/PI preferred.
Must have basic workingknow of a computer (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)

MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current, active andunrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in state of practice.

ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
Three years professionalnursing experience in long term care setting preferred. Previous experience in quality assurance,education/PI preferred.
