Interventional Radiology is a fast paced and intricate department of Radiology that uses image guidance and minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat patients with all different medical conditions. Our department has 4 IR suites, 2 single plane and 2 biplane rooms. We support several services in the hospital including the Interventional Radiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Neuro Interventional Radiologists and Trauma. Our Radiographers work as a team with the Radiology Nurses and Doctors, and are well trained to support all emergent procedures with 24/7 call teams.

Job Summary:

Operates digital equipment and performs complex invasive procedures by positioning patients and preparing contrast medias to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Works with contrast media, chemotherapy agents, radiation agents, cements, resins and embolization agents. Reports to Team Leader.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Graduation from an AMA accredited Radiography program.
  • Interventional Radiology experience required.
  • ARRT credentialed Radiology Technologist.
  • CT Radiographer license.
  • CIT or VI, Advanced certification by ARRT required within 3 years of hire.
  • Maintains continuing education unit.
  • Ability to work independently since call is involved.
  • Knowledgeable of a vast array of products including stents, coils, chemoembolization beads and glue. An understanding of neuro endovascular aneurysm coiling, acute stroke treatment, liver emboembolization, selective internal radiation therapy, Kyphoplasty and Vertobroplasty.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
