Registered Nurse, Medical Intensive Care Unit


Facility: Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN

Shift: Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift

At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we understand that patients in our critical care area need specialized care - not only because they are very sick, but because their medical needs are unique. In Spring 2021, the Critical Care Department at Fort Sanders Regional will be expanding! As part of this, we will have separate Intensive Care Units - each designed to provide experienced nursing and support staff for our patients' needs.

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will consist of 24 state-of-the-art private patient rooms, which allow and promote patient advocacy by incorporating family involvement. Each room will provide family amenities to encourage positive patient outcomes. Nurses on this units work to provide care for patients immediately after difficult surgeries, those patients with diagnosis of pneumonia, GI bleeding, and long-term ventilator patients.

Position Summary:

As an RN in the Medical ICU unit, you'll be providing professional nursing care within this unit and coordinating care planning with other disciplines. You will perform a variety of tasks such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), rotoprone therapy for ARDS, management of shock and care for the complex medical surgical patient. In addition to having excellent critical thinking skills, our ideal candidate will also possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years professional experience.

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain active Tennessee State RN licensure. CPR required.
