Scope of care:
The 4 North Unit is a 30 bed multidisciplinary 24 hour medical/surgical unit located on the fourth floor of the hospital. Patients over the age of 12 years may be admitted to this unit; however the average age is 65. Most common types of patients admitted to 4 North include patients with respiratory conditions, fever, dehydration, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, gastrointestinal conditions, post CVA, wound infection, orthopedic cases and general surgical cases.

Position and Purpose:
After the patient's plan of care has been determined by the team leader (RN), the Nursing Assistant performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards. Performs general clerical duties and patient centered activities in a hospital nursing unit.
Education/Experience:
High school graduation or equivalency. One year direct patient care experience with successful completion of competency exam, completion of one semester of clinicals in nursing program or relative experience and/or training, or completion of nursing assistant certification required. CPR certification recommended. Completes annual skill validations as well as safety and infection control procedures.
