Summary
Working with a team of physicians within the Department General Internal Medicine providing non face to face clinical support. Provide distant patient and professional consultations and education, telephone triage and advice. Speaks on the phone to patients, clients, or consumers, assisting them in determining the urgency of care needed, referring to or scheduling appointments with providers, and giving health information and advice to callers. The goal is to expedite appropriate appointments, reduce unnecessary visits to the clinic and emergency department and provide information for self-care and symptom management Keeps management staff aware of any problems that have occurred. Handles the prescription concerns for her team of physicians, including but not limited to authorizations and refills. Prepares and analyzes reports needed for the department.
Requirements
Three (3) years of nursing experience in an outpatient setting, primary care experience preferred, or over five (5) years of nursing experience in multiple practice areas of medicine. Triage experience, telephone manners, typing and computer skills; excellent verbal communication, crisis intervention, critical thinking, teaching, clinical, and assessment skills. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex, dynamic situations. Experience in using a computerized system. Knowledge of IDX patient scheduling/registration is preferred.
