Registered Nurse - Neuro Critical Care

At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we understand that patients in our critical care area need specialized care - not only because they are very sick, but because their medical needs are unique. In Spring 2021, the Critical Care Department at Fort Sanders Regional will be expanding! As part of this, we will have separate Intensive Care Units - each designed to provide experienced nursing and support staff for our patients' needs.

The Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will double in size, becoming a 24 total bed unit with the latest tools and equipment. After our expansion, we will be the largest NICU unit with the longest running comprehensive stroke certification in the region.

Because our hospital is a comprehensive stroke center, we provide full-cycle, cutting-edge stroke treatment, including neurosurgical procedures, and neurointerventional radiology. As an RN in the Neuro ICU, you'll be providing care for patients with neurological symptoms, including coilings, Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVAs, also known as strokes), craniotomies and some spinal surgeries.

Position Summary:

In this unit, you'll be providing professional nursing care within the Neuro ICU and coordinating care planning with other disciplines. You will perform a variety of tasks such as advanced neurological assessments, EVD maintenance, stoke scales, TPA follow up, and surgical recovery. In addition to having excellent critical thinking skills, our ideal candidate will also possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years professional experience.

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain active Tennessee State RN licensure. CPR required.
