Responsibilities

The Corporate Medical Director of the laboratory is a suitably qualified physician who is legally, morally, and ethically responsible for the scope, standards, and quality of laboratory service. The medical director has the knowledge and skills in all areas of practice which includes administration, teaching and education, research, and patient care. The director stands responsible for medically useful, accurate information made available in a timely fashion to enhance medical services to patients. The director partakes in making organizational decisions and implementation of policies that will foster better patient care; give sound suggestions from experience and knowledge for the growth and development of the system. The director participates in all corporate decisions and guides the operation of the laboratory ranging from selection of test instrumentation/methodology, equipment, quality assurance, performance improvement, quality control, safety, patient blood management and test utilization management. The director ensures lab service compliance and accreditation with CLIA, CAP, TJC, State and local regulatory agency.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
  1. Active License to practice medicine in the State of CA and is qualified in the specialty of pathology.
  2. Possession of Certified Laboratory Medical Director certification or qualification.

Preferred qualifications:
  1. Exceptional communication skills / professional presence with ability to lead and drive change on a national scale.
  2. Creation and oversight of policies, procedures, and best practices related to laboratory practices.
