The Division of Cardiology, University of Ottawa Heart Institute seeks applications for an academic electrophysiologist.

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute is a large tertiary centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The successful applicant would join a group of ten cardiac electrophysiologists comprising the arrhythmia service at UOHI.  The Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services Program at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute performs approximately 800 ablations, 800 pacemaker implants and 500 ICD implants per year. The facilities include four state-of-the-art electrophysiology laboratories capable and access to a hybrid operating room for device extraction procedures.

Candidates must hold the FRCPC in Internal Medicine with subsequent certification in Cardiology or equivalent specialty certification.  Candidates must have training in the management of inherited arrhythmias and in the ablation of complex arrhythmias. Candidates should preferably have a strong research interest along with formal research training, and a significant publication record.

Practice profile will be negotiated based on expected academic and clinical deliverables. Academic appointment ranking will be based on qualifications and experience.

Academic Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiologist

The Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute seeks a full-time Heart Failure / Transplant Cardiologist. The candidate would fulfill a clinical and academic role as either a clinician-educator or a clinician-investigator.

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute has one of the most dynamic advanced heart disease programs in Canada with a dedicated heart failure service, pulmonary hypertension clinic and an active transplant and mechanical circulatory support program with over 500 transplants and 100 devices in the last 20 years. We currently perform approximately 25-35 transplants and 10-15 MCS procedures per year. A wide variety of research opportunities exists in clinical and basic science including clinical trials, mechanistic studies, integrated research with biomarkers and imaging, proteomics and genomics.  Educational opportunities include a heart failure fellowship program and one of the leading cardiology training programs in Canada.

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute is a large tertiary academic centre providing cardiovascular care to Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. 

Candidates must hold their FRCPC in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Cardiology or equivalent and have had training in heart failure with experience in transplant and mechanical circulatory support (MCS).

Academic appointment ranking will be based on qualifications and experience.

Clinical work will include in-patient heart failure service, and outpatient clinics including heart function, transplant and MCS and would include right heart catheterization and cardiac biopsies.  Approximately 2-4 weeks/year of general cardiology service is also expected.
