Unit Details: Neurology
  • Patient Population: Neuro and stroke patients. Lumbar drains. Brain, back and neck surgeries. A lot of stroke patients. One hallway is stepdown the other is more of a Med/Surg population.
  • Shift: Day and Night shift available! Days: 7a-7p Nights: 7p-7a
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4-5. 25 beds.
  • Must Haves: Active Unencumbered RN license, AHA BLS. Open to new RN graduates and RN's who have been out of the acute care setting but are looking to get back in.
  • Plusses: AHA ACLS, BSN, 1+ years of in-patient experience, Neuro or cardiac experience. NIHSS cert.
  • Shift Differential: $3.50/hr and starts at 3:00pm and ending at 7:00am
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Dress Code: Galaxy Blue or Black scrubs


Job Requirements:
  • Manage primary hematology oncology diagnoses
  • Develop strategies to improve hematology/oncology patient care services
  • Provide expert professional nursing care to critically ill pediatric hematology/oncology patients
  • Serve as a multidisciplinary, hematology/oncology team member in providing comprehensive nursing care to hematology/oncology patients in the ambulatory setting
  • Participate in yearly oncology continuing education
  • Implement and evaluate appropriate plan of care of hematology and oncology patients
  • Specialize in areas such as pediatric hematology/oncology or breast cancer
  • Coordinate the delivery of oncology treatments, often in intensive care conditions, to assigned patients in a medical oncology facility
  • Provide specialized oncology nursing care to patients in a hospital or clinic setting
  • Serve as hematology/oncology unit/clinic charge nurse, team leader, and/or triage nurse
  • Provide professional telephone triage and medical advice to hematology/ oncology patients and caregivers
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for the nursing assessment and/or primary care of hematology and oncology patients
  • Provide nursing care to adult oncology patients
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing services
  • Mentor, supervise, and direct employed medical oncology staff
  • Utilize the comprehensive nursing process to participate and provide input into patient treatment plans for hematology and/or oncology patients
  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff, patients and families through the continuum of oncology care
  • Encompass all spectrums of oncology care from newly diagnosed to recurrent stage IV
  • Meet specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients by using knowledge and expertise
  • Do prep and monitor patients
