Work Hours/Shift:

FT 40 hrs per week, Exempt

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Develops, reviews, and revises annual nursing staff competencies through the use of various educational activities.

• Provides educational support for changes in care delivery.

• Assists in the planning and implementation of new procedures and/or processes.

• Provides continuing education opportunities as indicated by staff needs and directors requests.

• Collaborates with directors and other managers with input on staff performance evaluations.

• Facilitates on-boarding of new staff members.

• Develops, reviews and revises new nursing departmental staff initial competencies.

• Develops and evaluates unit-based orientation programs.

• Supports preceptor development using a variety of educational activities.

• Supervises new nursing orientation progress and progression to independent practice.

• Develops educational curriculum for new processes/initiatives/equipment training.

• Evaluates the new processes/initiatives/equipment training results.

• Monitors compliance with new processes/initiatives/equipment changes as indicated.

• Identifies opportunities for care delivery improvement.

• Participates in teaching classes for continuing education for house-wide and nursing departmental initiatives.

• Coordinates and provides required certification courses (ACLS, PALS, BLS) for staff as needed.

• Participates in active communication with nursing staff, nursing leadership, other clinical departments and medical staff.

• Participates in or leads hospital meetings or committees as assigned.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

Bachelors Degree in Nursing required

Experience with computers including word and PowerPoint preferred

Minimum of 5 years of recent nursing experience in critical care nursing preferred.

RN Surgery Circulator experience required.

1 year experience in a non Surgical Unit preferred

Computer fluent in Word

Current RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required.

Current BLS required

ACLS and PALS instructor certification required within the first year.

CNOR certification preferred




Job Summary

The Nursing Educator functions as an educational and clinical resource for the Nursing department. The Nursing Educator is responsible for assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities (orientations and continuing education). The Nursing Educator facilitates skill development, competency, attainment of standards of care and professional growth for current and incoming nursing staff.

The Nursing Educator will collaborate with the Clinical Educator and Nursing Leadership to develop educational activities to support better patient outcomes and regulatory compliance. Evidence based practice and adult learning theory will be used to develop, implement and evaluate the educational activities.
