University Medical, University Tenure or Clinician Educator Line

The Department of Pediatrics in the Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking board certified/eligible applicants at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the University Medical or University Tenure Line, or Clinician Educator lines who can develop and lead a program in pediatric palliative care.  Exceptional candidates will lead, launch, and oversee a portfolio of clinical care, scholarship, and pedagogy in palliative care, including supportive care, life-threatening disease, hospice, and end-of-life.  The physician candidate for this post may have additional expertise in pediatric hematology, oncology, stem cell transplantation, critical care, or another subspecialty relevant to palliative care.

  • The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
  • The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
  • The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Successful applicants will have demonstrated outstanding (or the promise of outstanding) clinical/ translational research and clinical program development relevant to palliative care and have a M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
