Virginia Commonwealth University Division of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine is seeking candidate Medical Director of Lung Transplant. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team in providing comprehensive care and management of patients before and after lung transplant. The Medical Director is responsible for providing administrative leadership to the lung transplant program; develop policies and practice guideline to assure compliance with governing agencies; participate in various outreach activities with multiple constituencies both within and outside the Hospital and University and the broader clinical community; guide performance improvement guidelines, policies and protocols. Time will also be allocated to other critical care responsibilities (Resource Intensivist shifts, MRICU attending, Critical Care consults).

The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in the management of patients with pre- and post- lung transplant patients. A strong clinical and/or research interest in lung transplantation and experience in the management of advanced lung disease is preferred. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment as a faculty member at VCU is required.

Candidates must have an M.D. degree or equivalent, be Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine by appointment start date. Meets the qualifications and requirements of national accrediting agencies for this position (UNOS). Strong interpersonal skills and excellence in patient care and teaching are expected. Dedicated fellowship training in transplant pulmonology is strongly preferred.
