Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Academic Cardiologist
The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Cardiology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) are seeking to recruit an academic cardiologist in the area of Electrophysiology. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto as a Clinician Teacher at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2021, or as mutually agreed upon.
The successful applicant will have training in arrhythmia, implanted devices, patient selection, management of devices. Teaching excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and teaching awards.
The successful candidate will report to the Division Director of Cardiology at UHN/SHS. Candidates must hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The primary language of work will be in English. Compensation will depend on the amount of clinical work performed (estimated based on fee for service billing) but will be in the usual range for an experienced Cardiologist in the Province of Ontario at approximately $250,000-300,000 per year and be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional sources of income from Alternate Funding Plans (AFPs) and merit from the Department of Medicine may be available. Health benefit options and plans are supplied per company policy. In addition, the candidate may be reimbursed partial start-up costs with office expenses.
The combined Division of Cardiology of UHN and SHS in Toronto is a group of 60 cardiologists. The Division has active clinical and research programs in many areas of cardiology including, but not limited to, cardiac catheterization, cardiac rehabilitation, coronary intensive care, electrophysiology, echocardiography, adult congenital heart disease, heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and valvular heart disease.
