The University of Connecticut School of Medicine's Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking an outstanding investigator for a tenure-track or tenured position at the advanced Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. Candidates with a research interest in liver diseases or processes including, but not limited to, environmental or drug-related hepatotoxicity, metabolic syndrome, gut-liver microbiome interactions, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, metastatic liver carcinoma, hepatic fibrosis or hepatic regeneration, are encouraged to apply. A dedicated endowed research chair is being offered along with lab space and competitive start up package. Strong collaborative opportunities with researchers in the Center for Molecular Oncology within the Neag Comprehensive Cancer at UConn Health and the School of Pharmacy and Department of Nutritional Sciences at UConn, Storrs are available. Minimal qualifications include an MD and/or PhD degree with post-graduate research training for physician applicants.

The Department of Medicine has special strengths in genetic and inflammatory processes in colon cancer, the gut-microbiome-CNS axis, and immune mechanisms causing renal fibrosis. The proximity of the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine on the UConn Health campus offers additional opportunities for program development.

The successful candidate will have a strong publication record and an independent and innovative research program with extramural funding. Investigators whose laboratory programs fall within a broad spectrum from basic to translational hepatology are encouraged to apply. While research is expected to occupy the large majority of the individual's effort, contribution to the Division's teaching activities will be expected. Opportunities for clinical activity also will be available, if applicable.

UConn's biomedical campus is located in Farmington, CT, mid-way between New York City and Boston and within commuting distance of New Haven. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae at https://jobs.uchc.edu.

Search no.2019-795. Questions regarding the search should be addressed to Dr. John Birk at birk@uchc.edu.
