Job Description & Requirements
General or Regional Anesthesiologist Physician in California
StartDate: ASAP Pay Rate: $300000.00 - 400000.00
We are seeking qualified anesthesiologists to support the continued growth and expansion of University of California, San Francisco. In 2020 U.S. News and World Report ranked the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care #3 nationally and the School of Medicine ranked in the top five graduate and professional schools. Our institution is recognized as one of the top institutions for diversity among faculty, and one of the pioneers in appointing leaders in diversity, equity, and inclusion - where DEI is not only talked about but acted out in everything we do.
The University medical center is a quaternary care hospital and fosters an excellent teaching environment. The Department runs one of the top anesthesiology residency programs in the country, per U.S. News & World Report , in addition to several ACGME accredited fellowship programs. We are seeking candidates who will join the general OR rotation, as several new surgery sites will be opening over the next few years. Sites to be covered will include quaternary care facilities with high acuity cases and new outpatient surgery centers with general elective cases. Candidates should be comfortable covering complex cases with the potential for major blood loss.
Incoming physicians with fellowship training, or equivalent experience, and a desire to work with residents will be considered for faculty positions. This schedule includes approximately four days of daytime clinical work per week and two overnight call shifts per month. Fellowship-trained faculty can participate in specialty teams and will spend most of their time with residents or CRNAs.
Physicians without fellowship training or those who prefer to do their own cases will be considered for staff positions. We offer fixed, daytime schedules for these roles covering general cases. Staff typically cover their own cases but may supervise CRNAs a small percentage of the time.
Applicants must be board-eligible or equivalent in anesthesiology, with additional fellowship training and certification as applicable, and eligible for a California medical license. The Department particularly welcomes applications from candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in medicine.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be a contributing member of one of the preeminent academic health centers in the world, during an exciting period of growth and expansion. Reside in one of the most desirable places to live in the United States-a city rich in history, economic and business development, scenic surroundings, diverse opportunities for year-round recreation and enjoyment, and an inviting and safe community to live and raise a family.
