Position Overview - Nurse Manager:

* Provide direction, supervision and evaluation to all CARES Center nursing staff with the guidance of the Director of Nursing and/or the Program Director. Recognize the abilities and potential of all nursing personnel and assists each individual in the attainment of optimum performance.
* Assure the proper supervision of the youth by helping to establish a balanced therapeutic environment on each shift. Nurse Manager position responsible for the basic nursing care of our youth and the scheduling and daily supervision of the nursing staff.
* Direct and provide quality nursing services at CARES Jackson. This includes assessing and planning for the individual needs of youth served, implementing and evaluating nursing care and education for those youth.
* This position will be 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday with the ability to flex based on staffing needs.

Job Responsibilities:

* Basic Nursing Responsibilities:
* Utilize the nursing process to identify and resolve health problems as needed.
* Administer medication daily as scheduled.
* Oversees safe implementation of all physicians' orders.
* Implement physician's standing orders as necessary.
* Systematically review youth for pertinent changes in behavior or health each shift.
* Complete 24 hour Nursing Report with each shift.
* Complete AIMS testing bi-monthly on each youth on anti-psychotic medications.
* Act as a positive role model for all youth as well as Residential Care Specialists daily.
* Coordinate medical and dental appointments as needed.
* Coordinate physician referrals and medical consultations as needed.
* Complete vital signs as ordered on each youth.
* Initiate the use of Emergency Safety Interventions (ESI) in the physician's absence, obtain a physician's order for the use of ESI, and supervise the use of ESI.
* Perform Other Duties as Assigned.

* Administrative Responsibilities:
* Participates in Child and Family Team Meetings.
* Participates in Program Meetings, Clinical Community Meetings and Case Consultations as needed.
* Compiles monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as assigned.
* Approves time sheets for all CARES nursing staff
* Completes nursing schedules and weekly assignments
* Completes annual evaluations and stay interviews in conjunction with the Director of Nursing
* Interviews, hires, and terminates nursing personnel in consultation with the Director of Nursing.
* Facilitates monthly supervision and cascade meetings in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
* Provides training and education services for youth, clinical and administrative staff as needed.
* Will cover call ins by working uncovered shifts or finding adequate coverage.
* Will help facilitate nursing students for clinical rotations.
* Will rotate in Administrative On Call schedule

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

* Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
* Minimum two (2) years' experience in a psychiatric setting, working with children and adolescents.
* A Bachelor of Science or higher. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Current Certification in CPR.
* Must be at least twenty-one years old and possess a valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by organization insurance provider.
* Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English, and be able to communicate in a therapeutic and professional manner.
