Half Time, DaysPay range is between $42.29-$63.43/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. Facilitates the care of patients with minor illness.JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducationSpecial Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)1. Possession of a Colorado State Nurse Practitioner license.2. National Nurse Practitioner Certification required by 12/31/17 for current employees or within conditional period of employment for new hires.3. Prescriptive authority required.4. BLS certification required by the end of conditional period.Knowledge, Skill and Ability1. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and primary and urgent care.2. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures3. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments4. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment5. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide episodic patient care6. Skills in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings7. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence8. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance9. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.10. Ability to maintain quality improvement and control11. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations12. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures13. Ability to communicate clearlyExperienceMinimum of 6 months as an NP in Urgent Care or ED setting required.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES1. Urgent Care setting/physically demanding at times. Work pace determined by patient census and acuity level of patients.2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.3. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).4. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.INTERRELATIONSHIPSMedical Director, Physicians, NP Urgent Care Manager Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Techs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.2. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.3. Performs a thorough physical exam, and records findings. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.4. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.5. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.6. Administers medications and injections as needed. Sutures minor lacerations.7. Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.8. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education and discharges patients when appropriate.9. Maintains and reviews patients' records, charts, and other pertinent information.
