Northwell Health is seeking a transformational leader who can build on existing clinical, educational and research strengths in the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.  The new leader must be a highly accomplished and academically productive Pediatric Gastroenterologist with exceptional communication, interpersonal and change management skills, and a strong commitment to upholding our core values- including promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Northwell Health, New York State’s largest private employer and one of the nation’s largest integrated health care systems, delivers world-class clinical care throughout the New York metropolitan area, pioneering research at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, and is educating the next generation of medical professionals through the visionary Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Cohen Children's Medical Center (CCMC) is dedicated to providing the highest levels of care to meet the special needs of children, from premature babies to adolescents. This 206-bed pediatric teaching hospital, located on the Long Island Jewish Medical Center campus (which also includes Long Island Jewish Hospital and Zucker Hillside Hospital) in New Hyde Park, NY, opened in 1983 as the New York metropolitan area's only hospital designed exclusively for children. Today, CCMC is the largest provider of pediatric health services in New York State, serving 1.8 million children in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. CCMC is proud to be nationally ranked for continued excellence in pediatric care, as the medical center has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s list of the top 50 leading children’s hospitals for the 14th year in a row.  CCMC is nationally ranked in nine pediatric specialties, according to 2020 results.

Northwell Health seeks a nationally recognized and forward-thinking physician leader who will build on the quality of the existing clinical excellence and operational efficiency, recruitment and retention, research, grant funding, professional development, mentorship, and academics. The new Chief will be a physician visionary with demonstrable results providing leadership in a hospital division and healthcare system recognized for its academic and clinical excellence. The Chief will be a role model and advocate who acts collaboratively and with due consideration for the cultural values of CCMC and Northwell Health System. S/he will have the ability to lead in a highly matrixed organization, building consensus, and collaboration while promoting innovation and collegiality among physicians, residents, associates, and nursing staff.

The Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition will report to Dr. Charles Schleien, Executive Director of Cohen Children’s Medical Center and Chair of Pediatric Services for Northwell Health and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

The Search Committee invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position. Prospects should provide 1) an electronic version of their curriculum vitae and 2) a letter of interest, summarizing key achievements related to administrative leadership, clinical care, operations, research, and education. Confidential review of nominations and expressions of interest will begin immediately. Please email materials to Alexa Freel, Executive Search Project Manager, at afreel@northwell.edu.
