Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (Psychiatry) to support operations at various VA locations in the Denver, CO area. Selected Psychiatry LPNs could be called upon to work in a range settings, to include an Acute Care Facility, Community Living Center, or a Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).

**Full-time, Travel, and Per Diem candidates are considered for this position. Various schedules are available.**

Responsibilities
  • Takes/records blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height and weight
  • Measures/records intake and output
  • Provides routine care to pre- and post-operative patients
  • Obtains routine specimens for laboratory analysis and performs standard tests.
  • Applies/removes bandages, binders, simple dressings, and hot or cold packs
  • Assists patients in walking, moving, and changing positions
  • Prevents obstruction, dislodgment, and unnecessary movement of drainage, suction, and parenteral fluid apparatus
  • Assists physicians and/or nursing staff as appropriate during patient examinations and treatments
  • Provides personal care to include bathing, shaving, and feeding
  • Makes equipment available to patients such as bedpans, linen, and grooming items
  • Accompanies patients in wheelchairs, on litters or ambulatory within the hospital
  • Motivates patients to manage their illnesses and provides patient instructions as directed by unit standard operating procedures
  • Performs general maintenance duties including, but not limited to: making beds, cleaning/sorting supplies, handling linen according to policies, and cleaning patient units
  • Performs patient treatment procedures within established guidelines
  • Communicates pertinent patient data to charge nurse and/or physician as appropriate
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations according to pre-planned emergency response measures
  • Provides patient care as assigned to include documentation of nursing activities in the patient record as appropriate
  • Assists with the admission and discharge of patients as well as the maintenance of patient information and filling out laboratory/x-ray/EKG slips.
  • Obtains patient history and patient family history
  • Performs quality control checks and operator maintenance for a variety of patient care equipment
  • Assists in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of care
  • Documents care given and patient response in the medical record
  • Prepares patient for physical examination
  • Carries out prescribed nurse initiated, nurse practitioner, and physician orders and documents in patient medical record
  • Communicates pertinent patient data to the appropriate provider
  • Possesses knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most commonly used emergency drugs and their location
  • Recognizes emergency situations and initiates appropriate resuscitative measures
  • Assists in patient/family education regarding prescribed medications/therapies/diagnostic procedures
  • Assesses patient/family knowledge level, implements plan of instructions, and records patient/family demonstrated level of understanding
  • Ensures content and correctness of a prepared report an signs documents to validate content
  • Participates in monitoring quality of care according to processional standards and established procedures
  • Responds to telephone inquiries regarding ward services and/or follow-up ancillary reports
  • Assists with ward related administrative tasks
  • Administers oxygen, intravenous fluids, and prescribed medications in accordance with VA policy
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce, in the Veteran population, and in the community
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Possesses a valid, current license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as an LPN and be licensed to practice in the State of Colorado; all licenses must be unencumbered and remain in effect during the time they are providing services under the contract
  • Has been actively practicing as an LPN for at least one year within the past three years
  • Is capable of providing nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients
  • Has and maintains current BLS certification
  • Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with the performance of assigned duties
  • Has documented training and skills verification
