Dentist (Oral Surgeon)

Job Summary:
NO OUTSIDE AGENCY SOLICITORSServes as a staff Dentist for the dental unit with responsibilities for performing a variety of professional tasks of average technical and administrative difficulty in conformance with established criteria and guidelines.

Job Duties:
Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Employee(s) will have contact with the general public, patients and patient's families, and in a clinical situation in order to provide reputable dental care and further the goals and objectives of the dental program. Performs all phases of General Dentistry and provides dental services of a scope, quality, and quantity consistent with Cherokee Nation policies. Volunteers to provide supportive services to the Dental Clinic Supervisor to attain clinic goals and objectives. Keeps accurate records of treatment and treatment planning. Performs routine examinations to determine needed treatments. Prescribes medication when needed. Maintains education requirements. Assures Cherokee Nation Health Services objectives are met. Adheres to professional ethical standards. Other duties may be assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYMinimal supervisory responsibility (i.e., lead position)

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:Doctoral degree; no substitutions. Graduate of a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation with either a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:No additional experience.COMPUTER SKILLS:Should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software and Spreadsheet software.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Must possess an Oklahoma State Dental license and maintain CPR certification. Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Training and certification Nitrous Oxide Analgesia.OTHER QUALIFICATIONSEmployee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIGs Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSAs List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIGs List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; risk of radiation and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
