Overview:
Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael, California, serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the areas largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the communitys well-being, our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care, Hip- and Knee- Replacement.

Responsibilities:
Oncology Acute is a 30-bed medical-surgical unit whose staff specializes in oncology acute care. The department has18 private rooms and 12 semi-private rooms. 30-60% of our patients are oncology patients but we also treat other related medical illnesses and have telemetry capability of noncomplex cardiac patients. We administer chemotherapy and biotherapy as well as handle complex oncological conditions. Through Mercy Hospice and the SOUL Dog Program our patients benefit from visits by our four-legged volunteers. Unit staffing is composed of RN ratio 1:4 or 1:5 depending on patient acuity, with CNA support for direct patient care. You will be able to draw support from our multidisciplinary team approach, which includes Case Managers, Medical Social Workers, Chaplaincy, RT, PT, Pharmacy, Palliative team and a Med/Surg Educator. This 30-bed unit is very busy and challenging and offers you a variety of experiences and opportunities for professional growth. Senior staff is motivated in teaching and mentoring new team members.The incumbent provides, coordinates and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Qualifications:
Minimum:Current CA RN licensureCurrent BLS from the American Heart Association1 year RN experience in an acute care hospital. Recent acute care medical/surgical nursing experience.Successful completion of Chemotherapy Biotherapy: Fundamentals of Administration within 6 months of hireSuccessful completion of the ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy certificate within 18 months of hire
