Responsibilities:
Nurse PractitionerThe Critical Care Nurse Practitioner position is primarily focused on clinical management of Intensive Care Patients, favorable impact on quality of care and is responsible to oversee the total care of the Critical Care and I.C.U. patient. The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner provides treatment of illness under the supervision of a physician who has Medical Staff privileges and who is continuously available, when necessary, to provide guidance, observation and direction (or provide alternate consultation when requested). Critical Care Nurse Practitioners will function in all areas of the MICU & SICU care, step-down unit, outpatient clinic, office practice and other areas designated. The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner will use a variety of skills to educate, consult and manage the Intensive and Critical Care patient population and assist the patient/family, the patient care team and physicians. He or she will work collaboratively with the health care team including Pulmonary, Trauma, Intensivist and Surgery physicians, anesthesiologists, other physicians involved in the critical care or surgery patient care units, nurses, case management, physical and occupational therapy and with any other departments affecting the care of the Critical Care patient. This Nurse Practitioner will act as a clinical educator working with staff on relevant competencies, and advanced practice skills as deemed necessary and at the direction of the supervising physician. They will work with the Intensivists to implement necessary medical aspects of care including discharges and pain management. The Critical Care Physicians Assistant will use these skills to affect a quality patient experience.Physician AssistantThe Critical Care Physician Assistants position is primarily focused on clinical management of Intensive Care Patients, favorable impact on quality of care and is responsible to oversee the total care of the Critical Care and I.C.U. patients including bedside procedures, surgical assisting and treatment of illness under the supervision of a physician who has Medical Staff privileges who is continuously available, when necessary, to provide guidance, observation and direction (or provide alternate consultation when requested). Critical Care Physician Assistants will function in all areas of the MICU & SICU care, step-down unit, outpatient clinic, office practice and other areas designated. Qualifications:
Nurse PractitionerCurrent Nurse Practitioners Licensure in New York StateGraduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioners Program with Critical Care experience preferredCurrent, unrestricted and valid D.E.A. RegistrationSuccessful completion and maintenance of ANCC or the AANP CertificationCollaborative Practice Agreement with the Medical Director of the Critical Care Program or their designee within the scope of practice of such supervising physicianCurrent BLS and ACLS Certifications. ATLS & PALS preferred.WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily indoors with exposure to various nursing unit and/or patient care elements. Travel to outside facilities is possible.Physician AssistantCurrent Physicians Assistant Licensure in New York StateGraduate of an Accredited Physicians Assistant Program with Completion of Critical Care residency preferredCurrent, unrestricted and valid D.E.A. RegistrationSuccessful completion and maintenance of National Commission on Certification of PAsSupervising Practice Agreement with the Medical Director of the Critical Care Program or their designee within the scope of practice of such supervising physicianCurrent BLS and ACLS Certifications.
