Overview:
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.The Outpatient Senior Staff Nurse I is accountable for the supervision and coordination of patient care delivery of the outpatient department and school-based programs under the direction of the Director of Outpatient Nursing Services & School-Based Programs. The Outpatient Senior Staff Nurse I serves as a resource, mentor, and role model for staff, demonstrating knowledge of advanced theories and principles of nursing practice and management, and the ability to apply theory to daily situations. The Outpatient Senior Staff Nurse I takes responsibility for personal and professional development, maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in nursing practice. This position supports the Director of Outpatient Nursing Services & School-Based Programs in cultivating positive outcomes for the patient, family, and staff, investigating and resolving concerns, and anticipating and adjusting staffing patterns to ensure quality patient care. The Outpatient Senior Staff Nurse I provides administrative support to the outpatient department and school-based programs.

Responsibilities:
Evaluates quality of nursing care to ensure compliance with the Standards of Care, Nursing and Institute policies and procedures to ensure patient safety for the outpatient department and school-based programs.Overall management and supervision of assigned personnel, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with departmental and organizational policies and procedures, hiring, supervision, performance management, goal setting, progressive discipline, staff development, work/leave schedules, day-to-day workplace interventions, and problem resolution.Supports the Director of Outpatient Nursing Services & School-Based Programs in resolving clinical, employee, and patient care concerns.Directly or through delegation, identifies and implements quality standards of nursing care for nursing support staff for all patients in outpatient care.Directly or through delegation, identifies and implements policies and procedures for nursing support staff that affect the coordinated functioning of clinic activities consistent with TJC and CARF guidelines.Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day clinical standards in the absence of the Director ofOutpatient Nursing Services & School-Based Programs and Outpatient Senior Staff Nurse II.Participates in department and institute-wide quality improvement programs.Participates in an active leadership role (chair or co-chair) inat least one Nursing DepartmentCommittee and/or participates in at least one Institutional Committee.Establishes and maintains effective lines of communication to facilitate daily activities.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred.Certification in Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, or Developmental Disabilities desirable.EXPERIENCE:Minimum of three years of clinical experience required.Minimum of one year of pediatric experience required.Minimum of one year of supervisory or management experience required.Experience with pediatric and/or developmental disabled population preferred.
