Join the hospital trusted by Chicagos Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as aResource Registered Nurse (RN)with the Resource department.Sign-On Bonus Eligible!The Resource Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages outcome directed patient-centered care to high-risk patients. This position provides an advanced level of care to patients throughout the organization on the assigned shift. Due to the variety of clinical knowledge, clinical skills, and advanced critical thinking skills, individuals in this role are required to demonstrate expert level of practice according to the Benners Novice to Expert Model. The Resource Nurse assures excellence in patient care through prompt and thoughtful assistance to patients and families utilizing the principles of patient and family-centered care by working collaboratively with other patient care and multidisciplinary team members. Nurses in this role will provide patient-centered care by demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and accountability to all units of UCM Ingalls.Essential Job FunctionsClinical Practice: The Resource Nurse will assist and actively collaborate with the nursing staff to identify, to manage, and to participate in the patients plan of care all the while ensuring optimal nursing care. The Resource Nurse will respond to all RRT, cardiac arrests and stroke team activation calls; assist with difficult venous access; assist with admissions, discharges, and throughput, participate in pressure ulcer prevention days and wound consults, and assist nurses with other patient care duties. (This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. Rather to serve as examples of nursing duties this role will fulfill).Education: The Resource nurse is an expert clinical practitioner and therefore will be required to provide formal and informal education to staff nurses on a variety of patient care topics. This nurse will work with the Nurse Educators to support ongoing education efforts of all nurses. Examples of education include but are not limited to participation in mock codes, code reviews, skin care, central line care, urinary catheter care, etc.Surveillance: The Resource Nurse will surveil high risk patients with various needs on the floor through frequent rounding and interactions with staff nurses. This nurse will surveil post RRT patients; provide early intervention with sepsis management, monitor high fall risk patients for appropriate interventions, and monitor patients at high risk for skin breakdown or those with active wounds. The Resource Nurse will collaborate with nurse assigned to high-risk patients on the patients plan of care (This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. Rather to serve as examples of nursing duties this role will fulfill).Professional Development: Contributes to creating a work climate that encourages positive staff morale, motivation, and commitment for all who participate in the care of patients. Serves as clinical expert, role model and resource to colleagues and others by using evidence-based clinical practice principles and accepting responsibility for professional and personal actions, and for maintaining current clinical specialty knowledge base. Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement process, assists in determining issues to be examined, participates in data collection, input, and analysis and research, and assists in implementing changes.Stewardship: Incorporates cost effective measures into practice to assure proper use of time, supplies, and personnel, as well as participating in activities that monitor and enhance patient throughput across the organization.Required QualificationsGraduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing.BSN required.Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience required; Demonstrated recent competency in critical care area such as intensive care or emergency department required.Current RN Illinois licenseBLSACLSCCRN/PCCN/CEN preferred and required to be maintained within 12 months of hire.Position DetailsJob Type/FTE: Full-time (0.9); 12-hour shiftsShift: DayUnit/Department: 61210, Resource NursesCBA Code: NNU National Nurses UnitedMust comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.
