Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University seek an outstanding physician leader to direct a large, dynamic and growing Division of Hospital Pediatrics.

The successful candidate will lead a group of more than 60 pediatric and internal medicine/pediatric faculty members who care for hospitalized newborns, children and adolescents in multiple settings at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, one of the largest free-standing child health care facilities in the United States.  The Division provides care to a highly diverse group of patients with over 10,000 discharges annually.

In addition to leading the provision of the highest quality, evidence-based clinical care, the Division Chief must promote safety and quality improvement programs germane to the field of hospital pediatrics, visibly lead education initiatives for our medical student and pediatric and medicine/pediatric residency training programs and advance the growing research capabilities of the Division.  An ACGME-accredited fellowship program matriculates two fellows annually from a nationally competitive applicant pool.

Ideal candidates include an accomplished and experienced leader to further advance the success of this comprehensive academic hospitalist program and its’ talented faculty.  American Board of Pediatrics eligibility/certification in pediatric hospital medicine is required.  The successful candidate must be qualified for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor.  The Chief must visibly develop, embrace, and uphold principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital culture and belief that racism is a public health crisis, and all children deserve optimal health and best outcomes.

The next Chief of the Division of Hospital Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital will have an impressive array of clinical and academic resources available to them.  Named to the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-21 list of “Best Children’s Hospitals,” Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of America’s largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric health care systems providing wellness, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative care for infants, children and adolescents, as well as adult patients with congenital disease.

Nationwide Children’s has a staff of more than 13,000 providing state-of-the-art pediatric care during more than 1.6 million patient visits annually. As home to the Department of Pediatrics of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Nationwide Children’s physicians train the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric specialists.

The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health-funded free-standing pediatric research facilities in the U.S., supporting basic, translational, clinical, behavioral health, and health services research.
