The Charles George VA Medical Center (CGVAMC), Asheville, North Carolina is recruiting for a Vascular Surgeon to replace one of our three clinically active surgeons.  The Vascular Surgery section at CGVAMC provides adult surgical services to the Veteran population in Western North Carolina and surrounding regions, including South Carolina and Georgia.  The service has dedicated clinic time, a full-time noninvasive laboratory with two techs, and one contemporary Philips hybrid operating room in addition to our other 6 OR rooms. Construction of 5 new rooms, including a second hybrid OR, is underway. The service is supported by two nurse practitioners, a general surgery resident from MAHEC, and a full time case manager.  The ideal candidate is board certified and facile in all aspects open and endovascular surgery. Our new surgeon must be able to work collaboratively with other surgical and medical specialists. 

Compensation is commensurate with education, training, and experience. VA employees enjoy a robust Federal benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance, thrift savings plan, flexible spending accounts and long term care insurance. Physicians earn 26 paid vacation days and 13 paid sick days per annum, in addition to 11 paid Federal holidays.

The CGVAMC is a 257 authorized bed, level 1c complexity facility which offers primary, secondary, and tertiary diagnostic and therapeutic health services in medicine, surgery, rehabilitation medicine, mental health, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care.  The CGVAMC has earned a 5-Star rating 6 consecutive quarters, top 10% of VA hospitals nationally, for 7 consecutive quarters.
