The Division of Intramural Research (DIR) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is seeking to recruit an outstanding Staff Clinician to perform diagnostic and interventional structural cardiovascular catheterization under X-ray and MRI guidance and will conduct cutting-edge research in cardiovascular interventional MRI within the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Intervention in the Cardiovascular Branch.  The Cardiovascular Branch conducts research on diseases that affect the heart, blood, blood vessels and lungs with specific projects aimed to answer clinically relevant issues using methods ranging from a molecular level up to and including clinical projects in diagnostics, therapeutics and interventions; and (2) emphasize creation of an environment where scientists and physician scientists can work together on disease specific issues using the most appropriate approaches available in the spectrum between the bench and the bedside.. There are strong interactions with a wide range of independent research groups, and the position offers exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside of the NIH.

The successful candidate should have a strong track record of achievement, expertise and experience in the area of interventional cardiovascular catheterization in patients especially novel structural heart disease interventions. Preferred candidates also have training in cardiovascular MRI, specific training in surface transesophageal and intracardiac echocardiography, and an aptitude for investigation of novel approaches to structural heart interventional procedures.  Applicants must have an M.D., PhD., or M.D./Ph.D. Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments.
