Practice Description:
M Health Fairview seeks casual Psychiatrists for our newly opened unit at Fairview Southdale Hospital.The Psychiatrist will be leading a team of interdisciplinary mental health providers in caring for acute mental health issues that come to the EmPATH unit (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing). The EmPATH unit is a unique, innovative unit that will use various methods to help those in crisis. Basic responsibilities will include determining best level of care for patients, providing acute treatment for occurring crisis and assisting with discharge planning when needed. The Psychiatrist will also work closely with the Emergency Department (ED) providers in supporting the mental health patients in the ED. The Psychiatrist will also be providing consultative support to the medical patients on-site and other facilities via telemedicine.Job Expectations:Provides evaluation and treatment of patients appropriate for the EmPATH unit by: Completes comprehensive mental health evaluation of patient; Completes comprehensive substance use disorder assessment; Provides basic alcohol and opioid withdrawal treatment; Completes a differential diagnosis of patients condition; Formulates, implements, and monitors treatment plan; Integrates discharge planning throughout the patients stay; Performs basic physical exams with medicine support as needed. Provides psychiatric consultation both-in person on-site and via telemedicine system-wide.Responsible to provide or coordinate communication between the interdisciplinary team involved in providing care to the patient.Contributes to effective and efficient practice management and responsibilities: Performs timely documentation in the electronic medical record; Meets workload standards for unit; Maintains adequate knowledge of billing policies to support billing for professional servicesMalpractice insurance provided
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited ACGME/AOA Psychiatry residency training program.BC/BE with the ABMSLicensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota. Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
