The Knight Cancer Institute provides total patient centered medical care in a practice setting staffed by faculty (Physicians, Nurse Practitioners) as well as fellows of Oregon Health and Science University.
Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN's care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, and knowledge transferor [Onsomble Model of the Professional Role™]. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RN's engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. The Registered Nurse Coordinator is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, which includes providers, residents, fellows and other clinical support staff. The RN Coordinator provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients diagnosed with Leukemia/Lymphoma/Pre and Post-Transplant as support for providers in clinic. S/he assesses patient and family needs, assists in developing a plan of care, implements, educates, and evaluates the care delivered. The RN Coordinator serves as a key communication link between the patient, his/her family and the care team. The RN Coordinator is a continuous advocate for patients and their families, ensuring that clinical and business systems are customer service focused. The RN Coordinator practices in accord with professional standards, core values and with a commitment to service excellence. The RN Coordinator reports to the Manager, Ambulatory Oncology Clinics.
Required Qualifications
  • External applicants: Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Degree from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
  • Internal applicants: Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Working Conditions:

Constant exposure to usual hospital environmental conditions including possible exposure to blood and body fluids for which staff is provided education and protective equipment to minimize risk.
Preferred Qualifications
