JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides oversight in monitoring of medication safety. Observes, monitors, and manages clients prescribed, self-administered medication regimes per Family Recovery Center scope of license. Takes and records patients' vital signs, reports adverse reactions to medication to treating health care providers. Assesses ongoing symptomatology and provides crisis intervention as needed.

  • Observe, monitor and manage medication protocols as part of the treatment team, providing appropriate input as needed.
  • Complete all charting and documentation in the electronic health records as contractually required and in timely manner as dictated by program requirements.
  • Coordinate medication orders and refills with pharmacies.
  • Provide client education on medications and their side effects.
  • Coordinate care with the clients' outside health care providers including PCPs, Psychiatrists, and RNs in partnership with Medical Director.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Take and record vital signs.
  • Report adverse reactions to medication to treating health care professionals.
  • Initiate appropriate and timely interventions on an ongoing basis and provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards and 42CFR.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current valid California license as a vocational nurse
  • CPR/First Aid certification, required.
  • Per program contact requirements, must satisfactorily complete a Tuberculosis test prior to hire and once annually thereafter.
  • Must be registered/certified with an AOD certifying board (e.g. - CCAPP, CAADE)
  • Must be able to maintain annual AOD registration/certification.
  • Experience working with substance use disorders and dually diagnosed populations preferred
  • Fluency in English, required; fluency in Spanish, preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software
  • Ability to work both independently and to effectively collaborate with a team
  • Ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, timely respond to management, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact positively with culturally diverse populations and maintain the professional distinction between therapeutic and social relationships
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both in writing and orally, with employees, management and co-workers

PAY RANGE: $ 28 / HOURLY
