Position description
Plans, directs, and coordinates the operational and personnel activities to ensure the provision of high quality care in the research setting. The supervisor is responsible for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment. As a supervisor in the research setting, will function and be accountable for the RN Clinical Research Coordinator duties: Independently coordinates complex (i.e. interventional, therapeutic greater than minimal risk) clinical research protocols with minimal direction from the principal investigator and/or supervisor in compliance with regulatory laws and institutional guidelines. Collaborates with research team to assess feasibility and management of research protocols. The RN Research Coordinator conducts patient procedures being done for research purposes that require RN licensure (e.g. IV infusions, central line blood draws, etc.). Nursing care includes performing nursing assessments and patient education, study procedures, medication administration and reconciliation, and monitoring participant status including abnormal lab values, adverse events, disease signs and symptoms and reporting appropriately. Functions as the nurse coordinator for multiple studies, ensuring that all protocol requirements are met for each enrolled patient. Responsible for screening and recruitment of eligible patients, patient education and follow-up, preparation of case report forms, accurate protocol documentation, and drug accountability. Coordinates schedules and monitors research activities and subject participation. Identifies, reviews, and reports adverse events, protocol deviations, and other unanticipated problems appropriately. Manages, monitors, and reports research data to maintain quality and compliance. Performs administrative and regulatory duties related to the study as appropriate. Provides professional nursing care through practice, education, and research. Educates and serves as a resource for other research personnel. Collects and assesses data required by the individual protocol and reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. Monitors safety and well-being of study participants. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2004), the AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Administration and Practice Standards (2004), and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing (2001) provide a basis for practice. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Minimum of two years of nursing experience in ambulatory and/or acute care setting. Completion of Mayo Clinic competency based assessment program will be required within one year of hire.

Additional qualifications
SoCRA or ACRP certification preferred. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within clinical and/or research settings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills. Previous experience coordinating clinical research studies preferred. Understanding of basic statistical methods and study design. Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and other software preferred.

Experience in leading medium sized projects and project management is preferred

License or certification
Current RN licensure required for the applicable state. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be maintained.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3006.40, based on a full-time position.
