Fellow - Critical Care

Job Number: WAI13616

Where you’ll be working: Critical Care, Waikato Hospital

The details: Fixed term 12 months – Full time hours

The Waikato Hospital Department of Critical Care is the largest single-site tertiary ICU in New Zealand that attends to all clinical specialties, from neurosurgery to cardiac surgery, plastic surgery and almost anything else imaginable.

The Department employs one Fellow each year to help aspiring specialists bridge the gap between senior registrar and specialist.

The Fellow will need to be registrable as a fellow of the Australasian College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent, and will need to be able to be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a vocational trainee at least, but preferably with full vocational registration. You can review registration pathways with New Zealand Medical Council: https://www.mcnz.org.nz/registration/

We have in the past accommodated specialists from related specialties (Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia) where these applicants are exceptional, and where they are preparing to work in a rural or provincial centre in the future, with intensive care as an interest.

Depending on your level of experience you may form part of the specialist roster from the outset or be folded into the senior roster in a supported way subsequently.

If you think you might be this person, and you would like to discuss the opportunity further, please contact the Dr Rajiv Singhal; rajiv.singhal@waikatodhb.health.nz, Tel: +64 272568150. Or alternatively submit your application and we can discuss matters further with you as part of the selection process.
