The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Surgical Oncology, has a faculty position available for a term tenure track associate professor or professor in the Pediatric Surgery Section of the Department of Surgical Oncology. The selected candidate will serve as the Director of Pediatric Surgical Oncology and will be responsible for providing clinical expertise in patient care management, developing a robust clinical or translational research program, and creating an appropriate teaching environment for fellows, residents, and students in the specialty area of Pediatric Surgical Oncology. Key duties include surgical care for pediatric patients that represent the breadth and depth of pediatric surgical oncology. The Director is responsible to maintaining the existing programatic excellence and continued development of an integrated children's surgical oncology program between the University of Texas MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. The ideal candidate would be recognized as a regional/ national/ international leader in pediatric surgical oncology, provide teaching in integrated programs in the surgical sciences, and demonstrate academic focus through clinical or basic science research.

This position includes a joint appointment in the the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston. Under the direction of the chair and division chief, the candidate would join an existing division of academic pediatric surgeons at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, as well as fulfill the academic mission of the Department of the Pediatric Surgery.

Interested candidates should provide a current CV to Dr. Matthew H.G. Katz. Qualified candidates will have an MD degree, will have completed an ACGME general surgery residency and fellowship in pediatric surgery as well as a Candidate or Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. The candidate must demonstrate academic and clinical interest and expertise in pediaric surgical oncology.
