Job Description
Job Summary:

Our client is a recovery center looking for qualified Staff RNs. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager the Staff Nurse works with a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for providing nursing care for patients in the program. The Staff Nurse collaborates with patients in a supportive and recovery-oriented manner, while facilitating trauma responsive treatment and services. The Staff Nurse partners with patients to establish their treatment and recovery goals and ensures that patients are seamlessly transitioned to the next level of care and community supports.

Shifts Available:

7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

3 p.m. - 11 p.m.

11 p.m. - 7 a.m.

Essential Functions of Position:
  • Responsible for care of patients on unit
  • Monitors vital signs and notify M.D. as necessary
  • Assess changes in patient conditions
  • Medicates PRN, according to standing orders
  • Telephone and initial screening of all patients for admission, obtaining as medically accurate history as possible
  • Conducts assessment for appropriate level of care and facilitates patient admission into the program
  • Keeps accurate nursing notes describing patients' physical conditions and activities
  • Records all medications
  • Ensures supervision of orderlies
  • Performs narcotic count at beginning and end of shift
  • Provides thorough and accurate report of patients' status to oncoming shift
  • Reports unusual events to Nurse Manager
  • Observes for signs and symptoms of medication toxicity
  • Observe for signs and symptoms of Psychiatric decompensation
  • Conducts ongoing condition checks as required for patients on the unit
  • Sets appropriate boundaries/limits with patients
  • Participates in ongoing discharge planning with counseling staff and administrators

Requirements for the Position
  • Must be physically able to participate in the CPR and CPI trainings and be able to endure the physical strain of performing CPR for several minutes while awaiting assistance
  • Massachusetts registration and license
  • Must be able and willing to work with individuals with substance use and mental health disorders in a respectful and compassionate manner
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment

  • Ability to uphold confidentiality standards and professional boundaries
