Allergy Nurse (RN/LPN)

Our client, ENT Associates of NY (ENT), is seeking an Allergy Nurse (RN/LPN) - at their Fresh Meadows location.

This person will be responsible for assisting physicians with patient care by controlling allergy shot patient flow, obtaining and documenting necessary history and vital signs, performing assigned procedures, and providing patient education. They will ensure that the entire Allergy testing, and Immunotherapy process is safe, well maintained, well stocked, and provides highly professional and appropriate nursing care.

Monday - Friday : 8:30am - 5:30pm

What are the Essential Functions of the job?

Patient Care

• Provides general care to patients. Administers prescribed testing, medications and treatments, including such things as:

• patient assessments
• vital signs
• allergy skin testing
• spirometry testing
• injections
• triage (both in office and by phone)
• medication administration and prescription maintenance

Observes, records and reports patients' reactions to treatments. Assesses patient needs and suggests solutions to patient care problems. Monitors patient during observation period after injection(s). Reacts appropriately in-patient reaction situations; informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.

Exam Room Setup

• Maintains immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness.
• Reports improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to supervisor.
  
  

Recordkeeping and General Administration

• Maintains accurate and complete patient records.
• Maintains patient, employee and clinic confidentiality.
• Conducts paper filing and pulling of paper charts
• Conducts patient confirmation calls in advance of scheduled appointment date, and calls "no-show" patients to ensure they are OK and to re-schedule appointment
• Conducts authorization and pre-certification processes, including calls for prior authorizations for medications, and appeals.
  
  

Vial Mixing

• Performs immunotherapy vial mixing, following established procedures.
• Maintains accurate and complete immunotherapy vial mixing records.
  
  

General

• Regularly interacts with physicians and other departments in order to identify and resolve problems.
• Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals and related material; and by attending seminars and conferences, as needed.
  
  

What are the requirements?

• Required Licensure: Active RN/LPN license in New York State
• Required Experience: Experience in Allergy/Asthma preferred but not required
• Proof of COVID vaccination is required
  
  

Any other qualifications that ENT is looking for?

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and must have experience using at least one Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software application.
