We are seeking an experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon with sub-specialty interest. Preferably you will have undertaken fellowship training in spinal surgery. You will join our team of 8 full and part-time consultant surgeons, 2 training registrars, 4 non training registrars and 3 house officers. 

The orthopaedic department provides a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic service for the Northland region including Dargaville, Bay of Islands, and Kaitaia. The position is based at Whangarei, with some travel required to attend clinics at regional hospitals and also theatre sessions at Kaitaia Hospital and Kensington Hospital. Participation in the after-hours on-call roster (usually 1:9) is required.

You will also need to participate in the supervision and instruction of junior medical staff within the orthopaedic service.

All applicants MUST be eligible for vocational registration in orthopaedic surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
