Deliverables/Principal Results Expected
  • Include doing history and physicals, reviewing labs, monitoring blood levels, sick call and preparing discharges (physician orders, scripts if has prescriptive authority).
  • Provides support and resources to the adult residential program and detox as needed.
  • Coordination (with the help of the nursing staff) with the primary care physician when appropriate.
  • Working with the nursing staff to make sure the medications are cost effective for the client after discharge and completing prior authorization requests for medications.
  • Responsibility to coordinate and complete the peer review process.
  • Coordination with the psychiatrist for medication and treatment of the client.
  • Manage daily medical needs of the detox under the supervision of the Medical Director
  • Daily medical rounds in the detox unit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education, Experience

Current Physician Assistant (PA) license in state of practice. Minimum of 2 years' experience in Addiction Medicine and/or family practice medicine. Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques. Awareness and understanding of regulating bodies (CARF, Office of Mental Health, DDAP) FP Board Certification preferred, strong background in D&A and Co-Occurring Disorders, knowledge of HIPPA laws, state licensing regulations, trainings as required. Strong computer skills required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
