Physician Assistant

Monday-Friday Start and end times vary

No weekends or holidays

*The PA who accepts this position can expect to be based in Bingham Farms, but travel to other affiliated sites to assist in the OR and office visits

• Provides outpatient orthopedic care, (e.g.: Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting medical and laboratory tests, making surgical diagnoses and instituting treatment programs) with the supervision but not necessarily the presence of a qualified physician member of the medical staff
• Document delivery of health care in medical record
• Specific procedures within a specific surgical specialty are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience
• Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources/referrals
• Functions as part of the Spine and Orthopedic care team

Qualifications:

• Requires a Master's Degree
• Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant or Surgeon's Assistant program
• Michigan state licensure
• Continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
• Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, familiarity with computers, and excellent analytical and decision-making skills
• Not including clinicals, a minimum of 1 year working as a PA is preferred
• Orthopedic Surgery or general surgical experience is preferred
• First Assist or OR experience is preferred
