Physician Assistant Surgery
This is a highly-valued team-centered position for a Physician Assistant with a Surgery background to step into the specialty area of neurosurgery.
This well-defined Physician Assistant position within an established neuro and neurosurgery program (28 years) is just the place to use your surgery and patient skills to make a difference in the lives of these critically ill patients.
A unique schedule allows you to give 100% of yourself and at the same time provides the flexibility to travel and have time away. (3 - 24-hour shifts (6 AM - 6 AM) and 1 - 8-hour shift every 2 weeks for 80 hours total)
100% hospital based opportunity with a variety of responsibilities will utilize a high degree of independence, excellent interpersonal skills and a focus on details in providing quality patient care. Expert clinical judgment and a solid commitment to our neurological patients is key.
As a PA you will:
Manage all inpatient labs, CT scans, etc. for this dedicated Neuro ICU floor with 24-30 patients on average (very busy)
Round on the patients with the neurosurgeons (usually in the morning or at lunchtime)
Facilitate discharge and outpatient planning with case and discharge planners
Consult with the trauma team regarding emergency cases and scheduling of surgeries
First assist on surgeries (starting at 7:30 AM and running through late afternoon usually)
On-call responsibilities during the 24-hour shift
