General Thoracic Surgeon
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time, General Thoracic Surgeon faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. This position has a 12 month service period (Jul – Jun) and is non-tenure track (WOT-due to funding). The salary is commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in summer 2021.
This position will perform general thoracic surgery procedures, including but not limited to lung transplantation and robotic foregut surgery. The thoracic surgeon will also be responsible for teaching and training of residents and medical students, as well as participation in thoracic oncology and clinical and/or basic science research. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The primary site of practice for this position is the University of Washington Medical Center Montlake. Patient care will also be provided at or coordinated with Harborview Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System.
Prospective candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or foreign equivalent) qualified as of July 1, 2021.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
