RADIATION ONCOLOGIST (m/f)

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), an independent United Nations organization headquartered in Vienna, Austria, serving as the international centre for cooperation in the nuclear fi eld. The IAEA works with its Member States and multiple partners worldwide to promote the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technologies. The Applied Radiation Biology and Radiotherapy Section under the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications is looking for a qualifi ed Radiation Oncologist to join our team.

The Radiation Oncologist will (1) coordinate and support research, provide technical and advisory services; collect, analyse and disseminate information related to radiation therapy as applied to cancer treatment; (2) initiate activities in the fi eld of radiotherapy aimed at upgrading radiotherapy capabilities and research in developing countries to help improve cancer cure rates in safe clinical practice; and (3) develop guidelines, training material and teaching programmes in radiation oncology for developing countries.

The ideal incumbent will have:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with specialization in Radiation Oncology or Clinical Oncology;

• Minimum of seven years of recent scientifi c experience in radiation therapy working in a cancer hospital and/or teaching institution;

• Experience in clinical research as evidenced by recent publications in the field of specialization;

• Good national and international standing in the area of specialization and association with international societies;

• Experience in international project management and coordination;

• Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and teaching skills;

• Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other offi cial IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
