The University of Michigan Medical School seeks to recruit an experienced, highly motivated, collaborative, visionary leader to further advance the clinical, educational and research missions as the Medical Director of the University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).

• The unit provides perioperative care to approximately 1,700 patients/year, 85% of whom are adult cardiac surgical patients.
• The Medical Director partners with faculty from Cardiac Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Anesthesiology as well as the Clinical Nursing Director to provide leadership for the operations of the 32 bed CVICU creating a culture that engenders delivery of superb and efficient patient care in an educational environment enhancing the communication and team culture for all caregivers.
• The Medical Director of the CVICU serves in a unique partnership with the unit’s Clinical Nursing Director as in a role referred to as an "MPLAN" leader (Medical Directors Partnering Along with Nurse Managers) within the Michigan Medicine hospital operating system.
• The Medical Director of the Cardiovascular ICU will have a joint appointment within the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Cardiac Surgery.
• The successful applicant is appointed by the University Hospital/Frankel Cardiovascular Center (UH/CVC) Associate Chief Clinical Officer (ACCO) with the approval of the Department Chairs of Anesthesiology and Cardiac Surgery.
