The Section of Surgical Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) seeks a candidate to serve as Director of the Division of Surgical Research. The Division of Surgical Research is supported by the Section of Surgical Sciences. Its primary mission is to provide infrastructure that supports the basic and clinical research initiatives of Section faculty. The Division maintains surgical suites for both large and small animals (2,700 sq. ft.), maintains section core equipment resources which include basic microscopy equipment, tissue culture facilities and centrifugation equipment and the Division provides administrative support pre- and post-grant and contract management. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D., D.V.M. and/or M.D. degree and have research interests in surgical studies with laboratory management expertise and administrative experience in a basic science environment. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of regulatory compliance, experience in grant preparation and submission processes, surgical experience in the animal research environment, and demonstrate willingness to provide supportive infrastructure for research programs throughout the medical center.

The appointment will be in the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University within the Section of Surgical Sciences. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications will begin on August 20, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
