The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine Huntsville Regional Medical Campus (HRMC) invites applications for the position of Regional Chair of Psychiatry. This will be a full-time, open rank, non-tenure earning position. The regional chair is charged with promoting the School's mission of education, service, and scholarly activity in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The psychiatry department provides clinical training for 3rd and 4th year medical students (3-4 per rotation) in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The residency programs in family medicine and internal medicine (60 total residents) support the psychiatry department with referrals and the psychiatry faculty provide an elective course and didactic teaching.
Candidates must have an MD/DO degree, board certification in psychiatry, proven clinical expertise, strong leadership qualities and recommendations, a love for teaching and some experience in financial management. The candidate must also qualify for licensure in Alabama, medical staff privileges at Huntsville Hospital, and credentialing with CMS as a physician provider. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. UAB offers excellent benefits and a sign-on/relocation bonus.
