Section Chair – Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry invites qualified applications for the chair position in the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, faculty position offered at the tenured or non-tenured level to lead a vibrant and well-established Section. We encourage interested candidates to apply to both positions.

Minimum requirements include a record of distinguished scholarly accomplishment; intellectual and administrative leadership in the field; success in external and alumni relations; and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of professor at UCLA.

The responsibilities of the chair include accomplishing priorities set by the dean and the school based of our strategic plan. The section chair also has responsibility for the overall administration and leadership of the academic section, including planning and goal setting, financial stewardship, personnel management, oversight of graduate and DDS educational programs, and support of school and university service missions.

The successful candidate will possess a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree, and will have an outstanding record of accomplishment in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery and an understanding of key aspects of dental education. She/he will have demonstrated administrative effectiveness; an international reputation of scholarship and teaching effectiveness; an ability to interact effectively with faculty members, administrators, and students; and a commitment to diversity in higher education. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

The UCLA School of Nursing invites visionary nurse scientist to enhance and promote innovative research and the highest standards of scholarly excellence, for the position of Associate Dean for Research and Adrienne H. Moseley Endowed Chair.  Selected applicant will hold a full-time position with 50 percent effort as Associate Dean of Research and the remaining 50 percent effort at the Associate or Full Professor rank expected to engage in teaching, research, and university and public service. Duties and responsibilities include oversight for the strategic direction of the School of Nursing, represent the School at research venues in the Los Angeles area as well as nationally and internationally, and will liaison with colleagues from other schools, departments, Centers of Excellence and other UCLA campus research centers.

Candidates should be creative nurse scientists with a current, focused research program that advances nursing science and is congruent with the mission of the School. Requirements: 1) an earned doctoral degree, 2) academic credentials and leadership skills to qualify for associate or full professor rank in the Ladder Rank Professorial series, and 3) a meritorious program of funded research consistent with the awarding of an Endowed Chair. Candidates should be creative nurse scientists with a current, focused research program that advances nursing science and is congruent with the mission of the School. Candidates must demonstrate a history of successful research mentorship of diverse faculty and students. In addition, candidates must have a distinguished personal record of funded research, and have current research funding from the National Institutes of Health (or similar external funding agencies). She/he should have an excellent understanding of federal and foundation funding opportunities, and be able to implement translational research between nursing and other disciplines.
