Director of Molecular Diagnostics: Lab of Clinical Genomics, Molecular Path, & Clinical Cytogenetics
The successful candidate will have an M.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree; post-graduate clinical training in anatomic, clinical pathology, and/or molecular genetic pathology; leadership experience in a clinical molecular pathology/genomics diagnostic lab; and a strong record of translational cancer research and clinical innovation in cancer clinical genomics and/or molecular diagnostics. The successful candidate must either be board certified or eligible for AB Pathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology or ABMGG Clinical Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics and Genomics. The appointment would be at the level of Associate or Full Professor. The appointee will need to have or qualify for California medical licensure.
The UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health is seeking a physician-investigator to direct its clinical and academic enterprise in clinical molecular diagnostics. Based in the Clinical Genomics and Molecular Pathology Center, the Director will formulate and implement strategy with the academic and clinical leadership of the Department, the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Institute of Precision Medicine. The candidate will provide senior leadership in clinical operational, bioinformatics and clinical informatics for molecular pathology, cytogenetics, clinical cancer genomics and Mendelian disease genomic testing, and hence assure coordination and integration of staffing, instrumentation, and strategy for the Department and the UCLA Health System. A major role of the candidate will be to expand current clinical cancer genomic offerings to support integrated clinical cancer care for the UCLA Health System, and to identify, support and advance UCLA translational research into clinical use and technology transfer.
Depending on candidate interest, the candidate may also provide clinical diagnostic services in Molecular Pathology, Cytogenetics or other areas of subspecialized Surgical Pathology. Along with other faculty in the Division, the candidate will be responsible for participating in genetic rounds and in tumor boards and will share responsibility for training residents and fellows. Creative contributions in clinical, educational or research projects is expected; UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interdisciplinary interactions of faculty across the School of Medicine and Health System.
