The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeks applications for a clinical track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry. The primary responsibilities of this position will be didactic and clinical instruction in the pre-doctoral fixed, removable, and implant prosthodontics curricula. Other duties include supporting the overall mission of the division, participating in university and college governance, contributing to the college’s continuing education programs, and practicing in the college’s affiliated intramural Dental Faculty Practice.

As an R1 research-intensive university with seven health science colleges on its campus, Ohio State provides the optimal environment for the College of Dentistry to meet its tripartite mission of education, research, and service. The college distinguishes itself nationally by engaging faculty throughout the campus, around the state, and across the country in a host of experiences that provide enriching opportunities. The College of Dentistry is Ohio’s only state-supported dental school, and it educates more than 60% of the state’s dentists. Comprised of ten divisions, the college supports nine advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The college also benefits from a National Institutes of Health T32 award that supports its PhD in oral biology program.

The college is in the process of replacing its pre-doctoral simulation clinics and patient care facilities. Each will be equipped with the latest in digital technologies that enhance student learning, improve efficiencies of operation, and facilitate patient care. Eight small group practice clinics that focus on comprehensive care will provide an ideal environment for dental and dental hygiene students to work in a vertically integrated model for delivering care.

Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree and a certificate of advanced education in prosthodontics from a CODA-accredited program. They also must be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and experience in the application of advanced digital technology in dental education and an MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree. Board certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics is highly desirable.

A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health science educational setting is essential.
